Boris Pistorius is the German politician currently serving as Federal Minister of Defence.
Prior to being federal minister, he held significant roles in Lower Saxony, including as Interior and Sports Minister, and previously served as Lord Mayor of Osnabrück from 2006 to 2013.
Til Schweiger is a well-known German actor and film producer. One known public engagement in Osnabrück was when he joined Minister Pistorius to inaugurate a children’s day-care facility in a refugee reception centre.
According to the official Niedersächsisches Ministry press release, on 16 November 2016, Minister Pistorius and Schweiger jointly opened a modular children’s care building in a refugee reception facility in Osnabrück. The Til Schweiger Foundation contributed a large portion of the funding (≈ €500,000).
